Alaska Railroad 2009 Print "Clearing the Way"

Here is an image of the painting. I am so greatful to have had the opportunity to paint this for the Alaska Railroad. I have learned so much this last year and am looking forward to painting on a regular basis now. With the holidays and such I will not continue my daily paintings till January and you can expect to see me hard at work from then on. So please log on and check out what I will be painting. I still have the signing event in Fairbanks this Saturday at the Fairbanks Train Depot, the public response to the print has been so encouraging. Thanks so much for the support.

Oil Plein air study- Sedona, Arizona

This was a day outside in Sedona's parks, I learned about using warmer colors with coolers colors in my paintings. The cactus plant in the forground should be more purple shadow instead of blue to appear closer. I really enjoyed painting fast to keep up with the changing lights and shadows. I did not enjoy backing up into a sharp cactus plant that day. Ouch!

Two Weeks in Basic Training

I will be leaving Alaska for two weeks to learn how to do chalk presentations using black light chalk. I am way over packing my art equipment so I can do daily paintings on location in North Carolina. It is going to be great to paint outside. Hopefully I won't be to tired after our classes which last from 8-4 monday thru friday. If anyone noticed I changed my blog spot by adding Postcards from Alaska. I have two blogsspots now that show my work. This one is mostly all studies and artwork I do and the other blog is just titled "Postcards from Alaska". I will only be posting Alaskan stuff on that one.
Well, I am leaving tomorrow so I better finish packing. I don't expect to post anything for 3-4 days so I can get settled in. Now where did I put those brushes....
